A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ronald Neppl at Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Harvard Medical School.
The Neppl laboratory is focused on the molecular regulation of skeletal muscle homeostasis in health and disease. Our overarching goal is to understand how non-protein coding genes (microRNAs and lncRNAs) control the essential processes of myogenesis and hypertrophic growth, and how perturbations in these processes may lead to a disease state resulting in muscle atrophy. Using traditional biochemical and molecular biology techniques, in vivo and in vitro model systems, as well as next generation RNA sequencing, we seek to discover and understand the biological roles these RNA species play in the maintenance of lean muscle mass.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D, M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with strong skills and experience in any of the following areas: cellular and molecular biology, epigenetics, and stem cell biology. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The position provides an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of basic and translational research in the collaborative and stimulating environment of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the Longwood Medical Area.
